Isola Dusk

Isola Dusk’s first release in over decade is released on 6th August 2021. The Ghost Stories EP tells four stories of menacing stalkers, sadistic seductresses and ritual sacrifices.

Back in 2008 I met Alice at a rave in Bristol. We both hit it off and got to talking about music, she was a singer/producer and had made some sultry bumpers under the alias Nica Deep. I had been working under my Forsaken alias and released a couple of joints with Ben Blackmore, an old friend and top tier guitarist. I knew another big man in Bristol music by the name of Tony Samuels, a percussionist doing bits with some of the well known local bands. We all got together and wrote a bunch of tunes, the first EP was Call Your Name released in 2011.

Being dumb, young and naive to our own worth, the first label who offered to put it out, got the deal. An obscure Romanian outfit that didn’t last long (though long enough to copyright strike my youtube accounts for my own music), but it was something. Our music was out there. The next year we released  the Waiting for You EP on (a Soul Motive sister label) Two Floors Down and was recently included on the retrospective Soul Motive Rewinds release.

Tony and Ben left the band and Jimma joined, taking up guitarist duties and we got to work on our latest music. We have bunch of new and old pieces, focussing on that narrative driven & soundtracking vibe crossed with dance music influenced electronic experimentalism. Exactly what Lifted Icons is setup to promote. The Ghost Stories EP is certainly a departure from the sun drenched sounds we made our name on and talks to the dark isolation many persevered through 2020/21. I’m sure the next release will be rainbows and waterfalls again, maybe….
